About Me

I have always enjoyed cooking and fondly remember spending many hours in the kitchen with my mum from as young as 3 years-old. Cooking was not only a form of self-expression but a time to connect with each other. I studied a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition) at university and later completed my secondary education degree to become a Home Economics teacher. I see the importance in learning skills such as cooking and sewing from a young age. Students obtain transferable skills such as time management, team work, sequencing and math.

My vocational calling was only highlighted when I had my son, Henry, over 5 years ago. We coincidentally were introduced to a Montessori program in the United States and it's an approach where we haven't looked back. Practical life skills are emphasised in the daily curriculum, with independence at its forefront. I see how much more likely kids are to eat healthy and nutritious food, especially if they have had a hand in preparing it.

The benefits of kids learning to cook are many, here are just a few:

  • Increases family bonding time

  • Encourages kids to experiment with and try a broader array of food

  • Increases healthier eating choices

  • Increases kids’ understanding of food nutrition

  • Helps kids feel more confident

  • Increases understanding of the environment and where food comes from

My mission is to educate, inspire, and empower kids to learn to cook. Our goal is to develop core cooking skills in kids that will stay with them for life, whilst creating tasty meals and having fun at the same time. In an age of convenience, abundant access to low-quality processed foods and growing health issues, developing lifelong cooking skills has never been more important!

Thanks for cooking with us,
Mim
